The Brief
“Redoing the kitchen was such a big project as we had a utility room and a boot room as well as a large family kitchen, and our designers were so helpful every step of the way.
Our designer talked to us about a boot room and showed us the different areas we could create with the furniture, which was perfect for our family. We create open shelving to store shoes and bags, and used the panelling to create loads of spaces to hang up coats. We also incorporated tall cabinets to store the items we don’t need to hand which means we have loads of space and everything can be kept in one room.
When looking at the utility room, we knew we wanted a sink that was large enough so we could wash the dog after muddy walks which is why we went for a Belfast sink in here as well as in the main kitchen. Again we used tall cabinets to hide away things like the ironing board, and lots of cabinets give us plenty of storage to store cleaning products and other things out of the way of the children.
We knew we had a large space to work with which is why we’ve used colours to create different areas in the kitchen. The island has lots of deep drawers to store all our pans, kitchen utensils and items for cooking, which means they are all to hand when we cook. Having everything to hand, and it its place is the main reason why we went for the large walk-in pantry; it offers so much storage space!
When we were in initial planning stages of the kitchen project, I researched my preferred styles and choices using Pinterest and lots of different magazines, as they gave me plenty of ideas. “
